Board Members

 Keith Pelan, President

 
Keith moved to Vero Beach in 1987 and had been involved in a number of community organizations.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in architecture.  Keith’s wife Barbara has volunteered for SETC in the past and also served on the Board. 







 


Bill DeBraal, Vice President


Bill was introduced to Special Equestrians through his daughter who was a rider and is now a horse owner. Since joining the Board in January 2010, Bill has volunteered at the barn with chores and lessons. He works as the Deputy County Attorney for Indian River County. He and his wife Chris have two daughters.

 







 Elizabeth Sherwood, Secretary

Liz’s love of horse began over 55 years ago in her home town of New Rochelle, NY where she practiced with the US Equestrian Team at Boulder Brook Riding Academy.

With her Masters in Psychology and her love of horses, SETC seemed like the perfect fit to give back to society and volunteer for such a worthy cause.  Liz has been on the SETC Board of Directors since 2008 and is currently the Secretary.  Liz also substitute teaches at our facility when circumstances call for the need.





Mike Lyster, Treasurer


Mike graduated from Rollins College with a BA where he played college baseball.  He went on to attend Crummer Graduate School at Rollins and graduated with an MBA.  He has worked in the investment business since 1985 starting in New York, Tampa, Naples, North Palm Beach and now Vero Beach as a Vice President and portfolio manager with Northern Trust. He is married with two daughters, both of whom are equestrians.  His youngest daughter competes within the International Equestrian Association of Vero Beach.








  Angie Jones  

Angie Jones         

 Angella became a Board Member in March of 2011.  Prior to joining the Board, Angella worked as a Civil/Environmental Engineer and also as a licensed Veterinary Technician.  She enjoys volunteering for various organizations and has been a Special Equestrians volunteer for 3 years.

          

                                 


Vinnie Parentela


Vinnie is the owner of Gold Coast Landscape Lighting based here in Vero Beach. Originally from New England, Vinnie and his wife Diane wintered here for in Vero Beach for several years until deciding to settle here permanently.

Vinnie and his wife love this community and feel honored every time they are asked to get involved with a local charity. SETC is very close to his heart as an avid Equestrian and former pre hospital emergency care provider.







Vickie Penly





A retired registered nurse originally from Texas, Vickie has served as the Program Director for Special Equestrians for many years. She is married to Dr. Richard Penly, one of our certified instructors. Together, they have 3 grown children
.







Dr. Lyndall Soule

Lyndall became involved with Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast as a result of being their horse veterinarian for many years. When time allowed she joined the Board of Directors and served two terms as President of the Board. Lyndall is a native of Vero Beach and has been involved with horses from childhood. She graduated from University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine for all you Gator’s Fans.
