A big THANK-YOU to everyone who attended our Open House on August 1 and Volunteer Orientation on August 15. We are very excited to have them join us! We are always looking for volunteers to join our program.  Our upcoming Fall Session is beginning soon and we are looking forward to welcoming all of our students. Because we have had a number of new students join our program for this fall, at this time we have had to start a waiting list. Simply send us a picture of your horse and he/she is gauranteed a spot in our calendar. Twelve horses will be selected as Horses of the Month and one lucky winner will be the 2016 Cover Horse. ALL other photos will be used throughout the calendar. Space is limited, so submit your photos today. Go here for submission info.

Volunteer Appreciation

Congratulations to Wendy and daughter, Elizabeth, on September Volunteers of the Month! Wendy and Elizabeth were attending a local horse show in early 2015 where they met another one of our volunteers who shared about our program. Wendy and Elizabeth contacted us shortly thereafter and have been coming out weekly ever since. During the winter and spring they eagerly helped out with our Thursday riding lessons, as well as any chores to be done. This summer they also helped with our Summer Equine Science Program kids and continued with all those dirty chores that nobody wants to do! Wendy has even gotten her 2 other children involved, sons Max & Evan (who also come out each week with mom and sis), by having them help clean up some of our unused tack and supplies and selling them locally to help us raise money.

During her down time Elizabeth enjoys spending time with and riding her horse or anything else horse related, as well as her various art projects. She is quite the talented artist as is witnessed by many of our volunteers here at SETC! As a family they enjoy spending as much time as possible with all 3 siblings, mom and dad all together, often playing board games. Elizabeth's favorite aspect of volunteering at SETC is the horses-she's a true cowgirl at heart and has been extremely helpful with caring for our herd as well as giving a helping hand with the ongoing ground work we need for our therapy horses. Aside from the horses, she also enjoys the social contact with our students and other volunteers. A big, hearty THANK-YOU to Wendy and Elizabeth for the hard work they do and the smiles they bring every week!
